 Our lovely team of volunteers will be dropping programmes through as many letterboxes as they can. They'll also be leaving them in shops across the Romney Marsh towns and villages.   But just in case you haven't already got one, here's a taster of what's going on at Turn The Tide 2018:


Friday 19th October

9pm  Live music with folk singer Nick Lawrence


Saturday 20th October 2018

Dymchurch Village Hall

9.00 Tai Chi – With Anna Dashwood of the Pheonix Feather school - the perfect start to your day.

10.00 - Mosaic workshop.  Create your own beautiful and unique mosaic

11.30 -  Romney Marsh Morris – Come and support this traditional crowd pleaser.

12 noon - Fencing.  Tenterden Swords Fencing Club will host this unique opportunity to have a go at swordsmanship.  

1.30pm  - Acro Jugglers.  Circus skills meets acrobatics - this extraordinary pair is a must see show for the whole family.

2.30pm - Human Firework Display -Betty Townsend Dance Troupe present what could be a world's first...

3pm - Oyster Opera.  Opera is coming to Dymchurch!  Founded to entertain anyone, anywhere, 

have-a-go street opera at it's very best!

4.00pm - Acro Jugglers.  Another chance to see this jaw-droppingly talented duo.

4.30pm - Russian Cossack Dancers.  They've danced for the Russian Paralympic closing ceremony, they've danced for the British Army, they've danced for the TV and now they'll dance for us - we can't wait!  



Peter Sloper Room - Dychurch Village Hall

10am – 4pm   Art Exhibition '2 Degrees More'

Artists young and older, have entered their interpretations on ‘2 Degrees More’.

 Come and vote!

Featuring Outspoken Cycles and their pedal-powered scalectrix - come and have a go!


Dymchurch Methodist Chapel Hall

5.30pm to 7pm University of Life

Talks, Workshops & Demonstrations - please be aware that all times are flexible and may be changed at short notice!

Featuring Kate Tym "The Coffin Club",  Andrew Ashton "Paul Nash", Riculf Riculfson "LARP - what the #! is it!" and 

Kent Wildlife Trust "The Fifth Continent".

Refreshments will be provided by volunteers from the Methodist Church - please bring your spare change, eat cake and support them!

Heritage room at the rear of the Methodist church 

4pm to 7pm  Dymchurch & District Heritage Group

Alongside history from Dymchurch they will be telling stories about life in the Towers and some of the events that happened in them.  

Includes murder, intrigue, and a trial is held at the Old Bailey, London.

7pm  Outspoken Word Night.  Featuring Kate Tym of "Shut up Shaun!" fame and comic poet extraordinaire, back by popular demand.  

Andrew Guarniere - local poet from Rye

Plus a chance to get things off your chest in the open mic "Rant & Rhyme".


The Ocean Inn

9.30pm  Ticklin' the Pickle.  Funk and soul mayhem, with a slamming hammond organ and horn-driven tunes.  Bring your dancing shoes.  


Martello Tower Number 24

The only Martello Tower to be restored to its original state, this unusual piece of our history will be 

open from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st October.

Sunday 21st October 2018

Dymchurch Village Hall

9am   Pilates with Lorraine.  Improves strength, flexibility and balance.

10am   Andrew Ashton – workshop led by local sculptor and potter.

11.30am African Drumming – with Kevin Richards.  Come and join these drop in sessions to learn the rhythms of the djembe and 

find your inner percussionist. Families welcome!

2pm  Archery.  Yes, indoors! Come and learn this ancient skill from two true masters of the recurve and long bow

3.30pm  Yo Street Zone panna & football demonstrations/workshops - all ages and abilities.

4pm  "2 Degrees More"  The Winners of the art competition will be announced.

4.15pm  Trash Samba Workshop - Dymchurch Village Hall Pre-School.  Make it and play it - bring some trash and turn it into something to bash, blow or strum.  Not just for small people - a lively all age, all ability session where you simply can't go wrong.

Martello Car Park

12 noon to 3pm   Dirtee South hosts a Car Show with a difference.  Get over there and see what those kids can do!

St Peter & St Paul's Church

3pm  Fortune Faded Glory.  Fantastic local indie rock band playing original music.

4.30pm  Estelle Mey.  French singer-songwriter with an alternative rock/pop edge.

6pm  Storme and Friends  Described as "spell-binding" and "seductive", beautiful and inspirational world music, featuring kora (African harp), cellow, clarinet, drums and world-class didgeridoo player and loop-artist Sandy.  Unmissable.

7.30pm  The Sacconi Quartet   "A quartet of genuine substance"  Daily Telegraph.  "The finest I have ever heard"  Edward Clark, British Sibelius Society.  If you have never experienced the serene beauty of live, intimate chamber music, well now's the time.  Refreshments kindly provided by The Ship Inn, Dymchurch.


Monday 21st October

Dymchurch Village Hall

10am to 4pm  Team Extreme - yay!!!

The UK's top professional extreme sports show team will have their ramp set up in the hall.  They'll be running demonstrations and workshops throughout the day.

It's all FREE - come and have a go!
